Personality: Zechs has a dual personality. He’s a cold, calculating soldier who has no remorse for killing someone if need be. Or he can be a kind man capable of more compassion that one would think of him. Zechs knows he can never return to his former life without some sort of controversy arising. So, he made a choice to keep himself distanced from anyone and everyone. Though, that backfires and Zechs finds himself caring for the very people he swore he would keep at arm’s length.

Zechs is often called ‘single minded’ because of the way he approaches things. He doesn’t allow anything to get in the way when he’s given a mission or assignment, even his own feelings. He has a tendency to be a bit stubborn and not realize when someone is trying to protect him since he believes he doesn’t need protection. This stubbornness also plays into affect for his love life, or lack there of. Zechs doesn’t want anyone close to him because of his past and who he has become. That and he sometimes just doesn’t realize it when someone cares about him.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): Zechs was born Milliardo Peacecraft, a Pureblood and the heir to the family. Just like it sounds, his parents (Katrina and Frederick) are pacifists, who don’t condone fighting in anyway. And they raised their son with those beliefs, but he was his own person, not wanting to believe in what his parents did.

When he received his letter from Hogwarts on his eleventh birthday (which just happens to be Christmas), his parents where ecstatic and Milliardo was curious. He always had a fascination with the Ministry branch, Aurors, but because of the beliefs of his parents, he wouldn’t have been able to act on it. So, when he received his letter, the young Heir told his parents that he wanted to become and Auror. This caused quite the commotion within the Peacecraft household.

In a fit of rare rage, Frederick told his son that if he wanted to pursue such vulgar and disrespectful ways, then he should leave and never come back. And Milliardo did just that. New Year’s Day, he packed what little possessions he wanted and left.

The Khushrenada family took him in and helped him create his new identity. They came up with the story that Zechs Marquise is a half-blood who was orphaned at the age of six when his parents where killed in a drunk-driving accident. And that September, Zechs Marquise went to Hogwarts. Even though his new identity called for him to pretend to be a half-blood, he still carried himself with the pride and knowledge that any Pureblood would.

Zechs’ time at Hogwarts was typical. He studied, spent time with the few friends he made, went to Hogsmeade when he was of age. He was a model student, excellent marks in all of his classes. He was a very typical Ravenclaw. But, there were areas where Zechs greatly deviated from the House “norm”. He had a great need to be active in every way, not just with his mind. He became involved in Quidittch when of age; he continued practicing fencing and even went so far as to learn a muggle defense art known as judo.

When he was fifteen, Zechs learned that he had a younger sister, Relena. While Zechs did go home that summer to see her, he didn’t stay long because of his father.

After graduating Hogwarts, Zechs went to work at the Ministry. He worked as an Auror from the time he was eighteen to he was twenty-four. He found that the work just wasn’t as satisfying as it used to be. Taking the advice of his long time friend, he applied for the Teacher’s Assistant for the Arithmancy class. One year later, the teacher retired, and the job was offered to Zechs. He took it.
